$ 49.00 $ 53.00

MC283 - Bogolanfini, meaning 'made from mud' in Bambara, is a 100% cotton handcrafted fabric from Mali, West Africa dyed with fermented muds. Woven from seed and free of chemicals, it is painted with dyes made from roots, leaves, barks and wild grapes by the artisans who imprint stories of their villages, proverbs and culture onto the fabric. Used for centuries by West African warriors and hunters for camouflage, Bogolanfini is a truly environmentally friendly textile. Nowadays, people across the globe are wearing them to stand out and celebrate their connection to the African heritage.
Hotels in Mali use these for wall decorations and also worn by individuals.
The making of mud cloth is time-consuming and normally takes four days to a week to complete depending on the weather.
No two pieces of mud cloth are exactly the same. The patterns vary from one piece to the other. Approximate measurement: 40 - 42" X 60 - 68"
