"Gele" is a Yoruba word for "woman" head wrap. Gele comes in different fabrics such as brocade, damask, Aso oke and regular ankara fabric. It is a stiff fabric but flexible to use. They have been worn by Nigerian women for centuries but has become fashion trend in recent years in Africa and else where in the world especially for weddings and special occasions. Tying gele is an art and takes couple of practices to master the flamboyant art work.
